Size does matter!

It has happens quite a lot, but today I am browsing the Best Buy website looking for a flat panel LCD monitor. Their dropdowns take forever to load, so I click on the main Computer link, which brings me here. Oh goodie, lots of pictures so I don't have to actually read to find what I am looking for. I go to click on the Monitors & Projectors image, and ever so shortly before I click, the image to the right loads up, and the layout changes. Now I just clicked on Networking. *Sigh* Very frustrating. It might not be so bad if it didn't happen all the time, or on big popular sites like bestbuy.com. I hit ESC, back button, and Monitors and off I go, but what an annoyance.

This whole mess could have been avoided if they had used basic W3C guidelines and included height and width attributes on their image tags. Just two little attributes to specify the size of the image so the placeholder is the correct size while the image loads. It matters! But then again, what do you expect from a site written in JSP? I digress.

Despite my rant, the moral is to make sure you are taking care of the customer. And sometimes it's the little "attention to detail" things that count.
